Classes

I teach lampworking (making glass beads) classes for beginners, advanced beginners, and intermediate lampworkers.

There are a variety of classes available on the beadFX class website. If you can not find a class that fits your schedule, contact beadFX and let them know and I will be happy to make one that works for you.

I teach a 4-hour Introduction to Lampworking. This is an excellent class for "getting your feet wet." If you are curious about working with glass, making beads or just want to try something different - then this is a good introduction. Of course, in four hours, it's impossible to cover everything - but you will get a sense of whether you are interested enough to carry on.

We touch on a wide range of techniques, discuss safety, setting up a home studio, sources, and re-sources. The class is all hands-on, with a Minor™ torch for each student. Max. 6 students, but I will do a class for a single student. Your beads will be annealed and available for pick up the following day, or they can be mailed to you at no extra charge. Use of professional grade equipment, tools, full safety equipment and all the glass you use are included. beadFX also offers a discount for to students for purchases made in store on the day of the class.

Learn to Make Glass Beads Weekend: A 10-hour weekend class to introduce you making glass beads by hand! More in-depth than the 4-hour intro - this class is excellent for those who are complete beginners but who are more than merely curious or have only taken a short introduction. Techniques are covered in more detail, and there is more practice time.

I also teach Lampworking 101 - an 8-week class. Eight classes of 2.5 hours cover techniques in more detail, and provide more in-class practice time. There is also more opportunity for practice time between classes. Much like learning a musical instrument - practice, practice, practice - makes a big difference!

I am also available for private lessons, one-on-one tutoring or consultation. Whether you want to master stringers, twisties, encasing, encased florals, sculptural forms, buttons, off-mandrel work, dichroic glass or even if you would like to learn to make my "signature" wave shape - we can design a class for your needs and desires.

These classes are offered through beadFX. In addition, beadFX offers discounts instore for students. For more information, see the class schedule at beadFX.com Contact the store directly to book a class.
